Why?

This report explores the diversity, identities, and political priorities of the British Indian community, one of the UK’s largest ethnic minority groups. Building on research first published in 2020, it addresses gaps in data through new survey findings. The study aims to inform policymakers, community leaders, and stakeholders with robust evidence to support better representation and engagement

How?

This study was co-designed with community stakeholders and approved by Oxford University’s ethics committee. Data was collected via an online survey conducted between April and August 2025 and distributed through community networks and social platforms. A total of 2,355 valid responses were analysed using demographic, frequency, and chi-square statistical methods. Results were weighted against ONS population data to reduce sampling bias, and findings were compared with results from a similar 2020 survey to identify trend

Who?

This project was led by Kiran Kaur Manku and Dr Nikita Ved MBE. It was released under the auspices of the India All-Party Parliamentary Group.
